Bringing World-Class Optics to Australia
Hallbrand is a family-owned Australian business and the exclusive distributor of Kite Optics. We proudly supply authorised retailers across Australia while also offering customers direct access to genuine Kite products, backed by expert advice and personalised service.

Our Story
While Hallbrand is a new name, its foundations lie in Hallprint, the Hall family’s Australian fish tag manufacturing business.
Originally founded by Michael and Wendy Hall in 1972 as a self-adhesive label manufacturer, with inspiration drawn from their fisheries biologist son David, Hallprint transitioned into producing world leading external fish tags for fisheries research during the early to mid-1980s and ceased making labels in 1986. Through a commitment to world best quality and innovation and exceptional customer service throughout, Hallprint grew into an internationally respected company in the fisheries science arena, earning prestigious business and export awards while building lasting relationships with customers and other fisheries science product manufacturers around the world.
David and his wife Leanne Berich later (2003) continued the family business, strengthening international partnerships with individuals running fish tagging programs around the world. One of those relationships, with European Seabass volunteer tagging program coordinator Georges De Putter, also founder of Kite Optics in Belgium, ultimately led to Hallbrand becoming Australia’s exclusive distributor of Kite Optics. Today, David and Leanne’s son, Anthony Hall, is also part of the business, continuing the family’s legacy into its third generation.
Explore our journey below to discover how Hallbrand came to be.

1972
Michael and Wendy Hall establish Hallprint
A small Australian family business originally focused on self-adhesive labels (1972 - 1986) and then external fish tags (1983 - present) that was built on quality, innovation and exceptional customer service.

2016
Recognised for Export Excellence
Hallprint receives the South Australian Small Business Export Award, recognising decades of innovation, international growth and commitment to quality.

2016
A Partnership Begins
Georges De Putter first partners with Hallprint, purchasing specialist fish tags for the European seabass volunteer tagging programme.
Being owners of companies manufacturing world leading and innovative products (albeit in different fields) David and Georges got on very well together. What began as a business relationship soon developed into one built on mutual trust, shared values and a commitment to quality. Over the years, more than 15,000 seabass have been tagged in this program with the best results obtained using Hallprint tags since 2019, contributing important fisheries research information to managers across Europe.

2022
Bringing Kite Optics to Australia
Building on the long-standing relationship between the Hall and De Putter families, Hallprint begins introducing Kite Optics to the Australian market.

2026

Our Brands
Hallbrand has been established to represent premium outdoor and optical brands that combine innovation, quality and exceptional performance.
Kite Optics is the first brand in our portfolio, and we’re proud to be Australia’s exclusive distributor.
Founded in Belgium in 1992, Kite Optics is internationally recognised for precision engineering, exceptional optical performance and industry-leading image stabilisation technology. Innovations such as the Kite Dynamic Gimbal System (KDGS), KT image processing technology and Automatic Power Control (APC) work together to deliver remarkably stable, natural viewing that sets Kite apart from conventional optics.
Whether you’re birdwatching, hunting, exploring the outdoors or working in the field, Kite products are designed to deliver exceptional clarity, confidence and reliability.
“I purchased a set of Kite Optics APC 12 x 42 stabilised binoculars in 2023 in preparation for a tiger tour in northern India. And what a great decision it was to go with Kite and move away from the other stabilised brands I used before as these Kite units are truly unique and the best I have ever used. The field of view, accuracy, battery life and simplicity of use made our Tiger adventure a once in a lifetime experience thanks greatly to our Kite binoculars. We use them regularly for whale and bird watching and continue to be amazed – highly recommended”
